Seoul, South Korea
B.A. Economics, Boston University

David began his career at Meritz Alternative Investment Management, a Seoul-based real estate investment company, at which he spent 2.5 years. He worked on high profile projects such as the financing of $2.2 billion acquisition of 245 Park Avenue in NYC, and the arrangement of an $100 million loan for the $3 billion mega construction project of NYC landmark Central Park Tower. In the process, he discovered the merits of international networking that opened his eyes to the global commercial real estate market.

David spent another 3 years at Samsung SRA Asset Management, another Seoul-based real estate investment company. He had the opportunity to be a part of pulling off the biggest European office real estate transaction (Silberturm, Frankfurt) of 2020. He also had plenty of opportunities to invest and manage a variety of assets across the globe, and devise value-add schemes for a series of office buildings.

At MIT, through its MSRED program, he hopes to consolidate his knowledge of real estate and finance, develop expertise, and transform himself into a socially responsible global leader.

David was born in Seoul, South Korea, but he also comes from a diverse background. He spent most of his childhood in Vancouver, Canada, where he learned to speak English. He graduated from Milton Academy, a boarding school located several miles south of Boston, and earned his B.A. in Economics at Boston University. Having studied in or near Boston for roughly 7 years, David says, “I am quite familiar with the city’s beauty, its dynamic energy, and Bostonians’ endless thirst for learning. I am excited to be a part of it again.”
