Born in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu, China, Yu relocated with her family to Toronto, where she earned her B.A.Sc from the Engineering Science Program at the University of Toronto. Driven by her commitment to exchange knowledge and experience across borders, she subsequently returned to her family business in 2019, specializing in manufacturing and installation of sustainable exterior finishing materials. Over the past four years, she expanded the business’s scope while fostering robust relationships with prominent real estate developers in China.

At MIT, Yu seeks to offer her supplier-side perspectives and to learn real estate finance and development, with the aim of creating value for both her business and clients. At her free time, Yu enjoys exploring urban spaces and nature reserves with her Miniature Schnauzer.
