What is Closing the GAAP?

CRE Graduate Application Assistance Program (GAAP)

The CRE Graduate Application Assistance Program (GAAP) is a student-run mentoring initiative that supports prospective applicants in preparing competitive applications to the MIT Master of Science in Real Estate Development (MSRED) program. GAAP particularly seeks to assist students from academic institutions that have not historically sent many applicants to MIT.

Through GAAP, participating applicants are paired with current MSRED students who can answer questions about the program and provide feedback on one application material of the applicant’s choice—such as a résumé/CV, Statement of Objectives, or portfolio/work sample. Each participant may receive two rounds of feedback from their student mentor to help strengthen their application.

How to Apply

Closing the GAAP will begin accepting applications Sept. 15, 2024 through November 15, 2024, in order to provide assistance before January 15, 2025 (MSRED Application Deadline).

Note: Although we strive to give you our best guidance from the perspective of current students, participation will not affect how your application is reviewed by the admissions committee and is not a guarantee of admission.

The information you provide as part of your application to the Closing the GAAP Program will not be shared with the admissions committee or any official MIT entity and will be de-identified in any reports to MIT administration. Your privacy is important to us. For further questions, please contact us at cre-academics@mit.edu
