Curtis Kemeny, CEO and President, Boston Residential Group
Mr. Kemeny is CEO and President of Boston Residential Group, which he founded in 2003. He is a native of Brookline, MA, and grew up in the family real estate business.
BRG is a local development and management company with a strong track record of success in the urban multifamily and condominium market. He has been a principal in the development of over 2,000 residential units with $1.7B of asset value in several neighborhoods in downtown Boston. BRG has 50 FTEs and manages $45M in annual operating budgets. The company has distributed over $500M in cash and achieved an average 24% IRR its owners and investment partners over the past 20 years.
His projects range in size from 33 units to 508 units, with most including retail (Whole Foods, CVS, Santander, Café Nero) and parking. Developments include Church Park Apartments, 360 Newbury Street, 285 Columbus Lofts, 319A Street, Olmsted Place Apartments, 55 India Street, Linden Square Apartments, 385 Congress Street, 33 Navy Yard, 1008 Mass Ave Cambridge, Stonegate at Weston, Battlegreen Apartments Lexington and others. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of MA.
Institutional capital partners have included The Carlyle Group, Morgan Stanley, Brookfield Real Estate Fund, PNC/Mercantile Bank, Bank OZK, M&T Bank, Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers, Freddie Mac, CapMark, Brookline Savings Bank and Cambridge Trust among others.
Mr. Kemeny received a BA magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Dartmouth College in 1984, and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1989.
He is active in housing policy matters for the City of Boston and was a contributor to the Housing A Changing City, Boston 2030 Report for the Hon. Mayor Walsh and the Housing Boston 2020 Report for the Hon. Mayor Menino. He also served as a Member of the Rent Control Housing Policy Working Group for Mayor Michelle Wu in 2022. He was a member of the advisory group that revised the City’s Inclusionary Housing Policy in 2013 and 2016.
Mr. Kemeny was Vice Chairman of the Board at The Boston Conservatory in Fenway for 12 years and served on the Board of Trustees for the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston for 15 years.
