With 45 years’ experience in real estate, ranging from private commercial development to leadership of the state’s capital projects and real estate agency

Carol Gladstone began her career as a Project Manager and then Vice President for the Beacon Companies, where she was responsible for the Hotel Meridien (now Langham) and the award winning Rowes Wharf mixed-use project on the Boston waterfront.

She was then selected as a Loeb Fellow at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. Following her time as a Fellow, Carol pivoted to work in the public sector, as Assistant Receiver for Community & Economic Development for the City of Chelsea, then under state receivership. In 1996, she founded a development services company, GLC Development, with two partners, which provided real estate development and advisory services to private, public and non-profit clients. This company was acquired by Stantec, an international design and engineering services firm, in 2012.

In 2014, she was asked by then Governor Baker to join his administration as Commissioner for the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM), the state agency responsible for capital planning, project delivery and real estate for all state agencies. At the change of administration in 2022, Carol was asked to remain in her role, and retired from state service in 2023.

Carol graduated from Yale University with a BA in Urban Studies.  She is currently an elected Town Meeting member for the Town of Brookline MA, and a Board member of the Brookline Arts Center. She previously served as vice chair of the Massachusetts State College Building Authority and as a Trustee of the Emerald Necklace Conservancy.
