PropTech Latam Summit 2022, now in its 10th year, was held June 2 + 3. The summit brings together technology and the real estate industry in Latin America. MSRED student and researcher Juan Huicochea Mason presented the keynote, “PropTech in Latin America: MIT Conclusions” detailing his white paper findings on the outlook of PropTech in the region.
The white paper, done in collaboration with MIT REI Lab and PropTech Latam, “PropTech in Latin America: Conclusions from the Center for Real Estate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)”, discovered the technology sector in the region is evolving rapidly. For instance, from 2019 to 2022 the number of Proptech platforms in Latin America went from 300 to 1,300, with Brazil in the lead. In the keynote, Juan outlined the general data of the region: market, venture capital, research and technological development, regulation and information, entrepreneurship, challenges and finally, opportunities. The remarkable growth in the sector bring technology to the forefront and MIT is looking to strengthen bonds with the region.
