Gautham Somana Chotangada

Born and raised in Bengaluru, India. Gautham comes to the MIT msred program with over 9 years of experience spanning the industries of construction and real estate development.

Gautham started his career as a structural engineer at a Seattle headquartered building design consultancy and has worked on commercial office design projects across India and the USA. He has experience designing using cost and time-saving construction technologies such as prefabricated steel, post-tensioning, and precast cement concrete. He has over 4 years of experience as a project manager in a design and build firm, which constructs turnkey office interior spaces for multinational companies in the airline, IT, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors. Gautham founded a development company in 2017 that builds commercial office and industrial buildings on contract and as a property developer.

At MIT, he plans to improve his foundational real estate knowledge and gain more know-how on real estate financing, syndication, and market feasibility. He also looks forward to being involved with the Martin Trust Center for Entrepreneurship and using its resources to learn how to scale a business. Additionally, he is interested in prop-tech and the hospitality industry.

Gautham enjoys outdoor activities, board games, and exploring new places and cultures.
