Kate McDonough has a background in Life Science Real Estate Development, Bioengineering, and Regenerative Land Use. From 2021-2024, she worked with Nancy J Kelley + Associates, contributing to projects such as the first carbon-neutral development on the East Coast and the adaptive reuse of a military facility for bio and climate tech. She also serves on the Advisory Board of Kyttaro Therapeutics, a biotechnology firm using genetically modified mesenchymal stem cells to treat various conditions, from glioblastoma to kidney disease. Previously, Kate held roles at Hive Technology, worked with architect Janet Marie Smith at the L.A. Dodgers, and conducted research at the Elisseeff Lab at Johns Hopkins University.
Kate began her career as a biomedical engineer, earning her B.S. from the University of Virginia, where she was a Meriwether Lewis Fellow and a D1 Varsity Squash player. She is also an FAA-certified pilot. At MIT, Kate is exploring how bioengineering and adaptive reuse can transform historic buildings into sustainable real estate assets.
