The Center is honored to announce that Jacques Gordon (MIT ’85) has joined us as our first “Executive-in-Residence” for this fall academic semester. He will be formally joining CRE’s faculty and will be appointed as a Lecturer at the Center on January 1, 2023. As a Lecturer, Jacques will teach a course “Real Estate Portfolio Management: Principles and Practice” in its MSRED program, and advise master’s students on their thesis research. In the meantime, Jacques will work with CRE’s leadership and faculty on applied research projects as well as industry engagement.
Jacques is currently the Global Strategist for LaSalle Investment Management, a global real estate investment manager with $82 billion in assets under management. LaSalle is an affiliate of the global real estate services firm, JLL, and has been a Center Partner for over 20 years. At LaSalle Jacques is responsible for the macro strategy and micro research used to guide investment decisions in 30 countries. He serves on the Management and Investment Committees of LaSalle and directs the investment strategy group, which analyzes capital markets, regional economies, and property markets. He joined LaSalle in 1994 and prior to that served as director of research at Barings Real Estate, at RERC (Real Estate Research Corporation) and as a Research Associate at the Urban Institute.
Jacques received the “Graaskamp Award” from the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA) for his contributions to real estate research and education. He originated the Jones Lang LaSalle Global Transparency Index in 1999, which has become the world standard for understanding international real estate. Jacques received his PhD from MIT’s Department of Urban Studies and Planning, MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania. As a graduate student, he worked with MIT’s Center for Real Estate in 1983-85 to prepare for the launch of its Master of Science in Real Estate Development (MSRED) program in 1985.
Although he recently announced his retirement from LaSalle from LaSalle (effective January 1, 2023), he will continue to serve on the Boards of the JLL Income Property Trust, The Real Estate Research Institute, and The Institute for Urban Research at the University of Pennsylvania.
