Dr. Daniel Abramson – In Search Of Resilience: Cases of Community-Engaged Research and Place-Based Development in China
Daniel Abramson is currently an Associate Professor of Urban Design and Planning at the University of Washington. He received his PhD in Urban Planning from Tsinghua University (1998). His areas of research include: comparative urbanism and planning cultures (focus in China), urban design, historic preservation, democratic and intercultural action and pedagogy in community planning and design, hazards resilience and disaster recovery, and community planning and design for resilient social-ecological systems. Dr. Abramson served as Secretary and Member of the Board of Directors for the International Association for China Planning from 2005 – 2009 and is currently still a general member of the Association. He has also served on the editorial board of two planning journals.
