Cherry Tang is a real estate development professional passionate about creating sustainable, mixed-use communities that balance design excellence, financial feasibility, and social impact. Having lived in Beijing, Vancouver, Toronto, and Singapore, she brings a global perspective on how diverse cultural, environmental, and economic contexts shape urban development.
Before joining MIT’s MSRED program, Cherry worked at Westbank as a Development & Project Management Associate, overseeing design-build coordination and entitlement approvals for major Toronto purpose-built rental projects, including Mirvish Village and Toronto House. Previously, at Mattamy Homes, she served as Development & Acquisitions Coordinator, leading project visioning through the design thinking framework, navigating municipal approvals, and contributing to acquisitions totaling 5,000 residential units.
Cherry holds a BA (Hons) in Human Geography with a minor in Geographic Information Systems from the University of Toronto and studied urban planning and housing policy at the National University of Singapore. She is a LEED Green Associate, an active Urban Land Institute member, and recipient of the Sustainable Real Estate Development Action (SREDA) Award.
