Clay Anderson is a dual degree MSRED and City Planning student in his second year. He is an MIT Morningside Academy of Design fellow who is conducting research that combines principles of real estate development, urban design, and transportation for the purpose of identifying new funding sources for public transit operators.
Clay is passionate about real estate that creates more livable cities by encouraging people to walk, bike, or take transit, enhancing both real estate value as well as social and environmental wellbeing. Recently, Clay interned with the New York-based real estate developer Fairstead, where he worked with an acquisitions and development team on LIHTC/Section 8 deals across the country.
Prior to MIT, Clay worked for a planning consultancy firm in Austin that created comprehensive transportation plans and strategies for cities in Central Texas. He also led an advocacy campaign that lobbied politicians in the Austin-San Antonio corridor for better regional transportation, leading to creation of the statewide and bipartisan Texas Passenger Rail Advisory Committee. He is an alumni of Columbia University.
