Janghoon Ko joins the MIT MSRED program with six years of experience in the Seoul real estate industry, focusing on value-add office assets and emerging sectors. He began his career at CBRE Korea, overseeing a trophy office asset in Seoul’s CBD and driving value through targeted leasing strategies. He later joined LB Asset Management as an Asset Portfolio Manager, responsible for a $1.1 billion portfolio of office and retail properties. During this time, he recognized the growing potential of data centers and co-living in the Korean market and observed an increasing shift toward niche asset classes, shaping his perspective on sector diversification and adaptive investment strategies.
Janghoon’s long-term goal is to pioneer senior housing in Korea by developing integrated communities that combine medical care with vibrant social environments. Inspired by Korea’s aging demographics and global best practices in senior living, he aims to create sustainable and socially impactful housing models for the country’s rapidly aging population. At MIT, he plans to deepen his expertise in healthcare real estate development, sustainable design, and regulatory frameworks, leveraging courses such as Real Estate Development Studio and Mixed Income Housing Policy. He looks forward to engaging with the program’s interdisciplinary resources and global network to develop innovative solutions that address both financial viability and social impact in Korea’s senior housing sector. Outside of work, he enjoys electronic music, scuba diving, and outdoor activities.
