Seamus joins the MIT MSRED program with five years of experience working as a structural engineer. Even before entering engineering, Seamus gained ample hands-on experience with his family’s construction company. At MIT, he intends to leverage his knowledge of the design and construction process to understand the economics, finance, technology, and sustainability requirements of modern real estate development.

Seamus began his career with Roome & Guarracino Engineers, where he led the structural design of multiple mixed-use podium-style buildings and single-family residences across Greater Boston. He then joined Thornton Tomasetti, the largest structural engineering firm in the country. There, he had the privilege of working on high-profile projects such as Boston’s 10 World Trade building, collaborating with premier architecture firms like Sasaki Associates and powerhouse contractors like Suffolk Construction.

Seamus was raised in Braintree, Massachusetts, and attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering. Outside of work, Seamus enjoys skiing and Cape Cod beaches in the summertime.
