A native of Seoul, Korea, Taeyong joins MIT with experience as a consulting and investment professional.
Taeyong started his career at Deloitte Korea as a consultant and developed a keen interest in the decision-making process and feasibility analysis of the real estate business. He engaged in a wide range of development projects, primarily those involving apartment buildings and mixed-use complexes. Through these projects, he learned how limited resources can be best allocated and how to align public good and financial interests.
He most recently worked at Mirae Asset Securities, one of the leading investment banks in Korea. At Mirae, he was involved in a number of key Project Financing (PF) transactions leading debt and equity financings and built an extensive network with industry experts. In the course of his career, Taeyong also made tangible achievements through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) with public agencies.
He received the Talent Award of Korea which is awarded to potential future leaders of Korea by the Korean government. Winning this award provided an anchor for his vision of becoming a leader who will have positive impact on making affordable housing available in Korea.
At MIT, Taeyong is excited about learning how public value can be maximized and exploring strategies to drive mutual growth of both the public and private sectors. He is aims to further deepen his knowledge in financing models that can address gaps in housing policies of the government by effectively leveraging strategic capabilities of the private sector
