PhD student in Urban Economics at MITs Department of Urban Studies & Planning and Center for Real Estate.

Yichun Fan is a PhD Candidate in Urban and Regional Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is also a graduate researcher at the MIT Center for Real Estate and Sustainable Urbanization Lab, where she coordinates research efforts in climate-resilient real estate. 

Yichun’s research focuses on urban resilience to environmental risks. She integrates economic analyses with new data and data science technologies to understand how environmental risks and policies shape social and economic outcomes in cities. Her most recent research agenda is to understand the interplay between human behavior, built environment, and economic systems in collectively shaping urban climate resilience. She has published papers in journals like Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Nature Human Behavior, Nature Communications, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Environmental Research Letters, and Cities.
