B.Arch., Architecture, Tsinghua University
Yueqi joins MIT’s MSRED as a part of the Young Leaders Program. With a background in architecture, he is seeking greater exposure to real estate investing following a private equity internship and several major development projects.
Yueqi has always been fascinated by how real estate projects influence communities, culture, and lifestyles. As a student at Tsinghua University, he won the renovation design competition for the Department of Architecture’s primary building on Tsinghua’s campus, and supervised its construction. After graduating with university honors, he joined China’s largest private-sector architecture firm within its accelerated leadership development program. This program’s broad focus exposed him to high-profile mandates like urban regenerations in downtown Shanghai, alongside special corporate development projects for the firm.
Prior to MIT, Yueqi interned in the real estate private equity team at GLP, a leading global real estate investor. His experiences working on buyouts of warehouse portfolios and life science R&D laboratories have cultivated a growing interest in industrial real estate. At GLP, he also prepared fundraising materials and supported LP diligence responses for the firm’s new $2bn value-added fund.
Going forward, Yueqi anticipates expanding his finance skillset and is seeking to better understand the economic and institutional factors underlying real estate development, and hopes to leverage insights from his architectural background in future roles.
